Brad Robson (b. 1976) is a Sydney-based Australian artist whose work has been exhibited throughout Australia, North America, and Europe. Working primarily in oil, his paintings are held in private collections internationally. Alongside his studio practice, Robson has completed large-scale public artworks in Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, and Barcelona.

Robson's practice moves between portraiture, abstraction, and cultural iconography, exploring themes of identity, memory, and perception. Through layered surfaces, distortion, and expressive mark-making, familiar subjects are transformed into works that feel both immediate and psychologically charged. Rather than seeking perfect representation, his paintings embrace tension—between control and chance, clarity and ambiguity, destruction and renewal.

Working intuitively, Robson allows each painting to evolve through a process of building, erasing, and reworking. Paint is pushed, scraped, layered, and disrupted until the image reaches a point where precision gives way to something more instinctive. The physical act of painting remains central to his practice, with each mark contributing to the emotional weight of the finished work.

Over the course of his career, Robson has developed several distinct bodies of work, yet a consistent thread runs through them all: an interest in revealing what lies beneath the surface. Whether working with portraiture, abstraction, or familiar cultural references, his paintings invite viewers to reconsider the known through a contemporary lens, balancing technical discipline with expressive freedom.
